A man who laced treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to children at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person became sick at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
The man played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his stepson had concerns about the activities, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel said objects including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were found, and his stepchild contacted the police about his suspicions.
She stated Ruben continued to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"The police had not gone out by that point," she added.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.
The prosecutor stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities once more.
She stated the defendant then played the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
